My family at Christmas
Bryce and Brittny’s wedding
After a very warm early December in FL, we headed north to face a very cold and snowy Maryland. Fortunately we have lots of family and friends in the area who gave us a warm welcome. While in MD, we enjoyed dinner parties at Carol and Cordale’s and at Lois and Eldon’s. For Christmas we parked in Linda and Rick’s driveway and continued our tradition of being there Christmas morning. We always enjoy watching our niece and nephew open their presents. We drove to Baltimore and enjoyed Christmas dinner with my family at Sharon’s place. It was great to have all my family together. Pat’s nephew, Brice, got a break from Army Boot Camp to get married. I guess you could say he got a wife for Christmas. For New Year’s Eve, Pat’s family got together for a party at a local bowling alley. After New Years, Pat and Julie took a bus to NY City and met Carol there. Together they went to see a production of White Christmas. This trip had been planned for before Christmas, but a major snow storm changed those plans. Tom and Julie put us up (or put up with us) for 2 weeks in January as we both tried to get over colds. Susan and Windsor stored our RV and Russ and Shirley loaned us one of their cars. Randy agreed to store our canoe when we could not get into our garage in West Virginia due to the snow. We thank all our family and friends who help make our visit memorable. We had planned to see Pat’s friend Margaret in Louisville, but Pat was still not feeling 100% and Margaret didn’t need any more health problems.
I was getting anxious to get back on the road. Yes, we love our lifestyle. We survived all year on the road without being sick, but the entire time we were in PA/MD at least one of us was sick. By mid January we were headed south to Florida. We stopped at Blue Springs SP and saw at least 150 manatees enjoying the warm spring water on a very cold day.
We canoed the Santa Fe River and Juniper Creek. The day we did Juniper Creek, we had an adventure, read the next segment for all the gory details.
